Background

Don Nalls is a longtime veteran of the investment advisory business. He has many years of entrepreneurial and military leadership experience, combined with a broad and extensive background in management, strategic studies, economics, and history. He brings his long experience and academic knowledge to his current position as principal at The Nalls Sherbakoff Group, LLC.

Don is very proud of his military service. Commissioned in 1985 as a second lieutenant of armor from the Reserve Officer Training Corps, he served in the active Army, Tennessee Army National Guard, and the U.S Army Reserves. Don commanded at every level from platoon leader to assistant division commander and is a graduate of the U.S Army War College.

Before forming The Nalls Sherbakoff Group, LLC, Don was one of the co-founders of Patriot Investment Management, Inc., in 1994. Don served as Chief Compliance Officer and as one of the two principals of Patriot from 1994 until 2012. In 2012 he left Patriot to join C&J Wealth Advisors, and in late 2012 he founded The Nalls Sherbakoff Group, LLC. Don has used his experiences and lessons learned from his previous firms to create a firm that focuses on evidence-based investing and the dimensions of expected return, which in his view holds the promise for the best client focused investment outcomes.

 

Beyond Work

Don served his community and nation for a number of years in the Tennessee National Guard, and in both the active and reserve components of the U.S. Army. He maintains a lively interest in foreign affairs and military issues.

Don is an active outdoorsman, and he supports both Ducks and Trout Unlimited, and Healing Waters, a fly-fishing program for Veterans. He is married to Susan, and has three adult children and one grandchild.

Background

Lee is a Tennessee Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) credential from the American Institute of CPAs. In addition, Lee is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professional. He specializes in creating and executing financial plans that lead to sustainable long-term, real life returns in order to meet his clients’ deepest and most important financial goals and objectives. Lee’s investment style includes individually designed wealth and investment management strategies using appropriately allocated, well-diversified portfolios, coupled with helping his clients to maintain a faithful, patient, and disciplined approach to investing.

Lee has been active in the investment industry for many years, with a hiatus taken from 2008-2012, when he was recalled to active duty with the U.S Army. Before being recalled, he served as vice president with a local trust company. After retiring from the U.S Army Reserves, Lee joined Patriot Investment Management and then helped formed The Nalls Sherbakoff Group, LLC in 2014.

Lee is committed to his clients and strives to offer independent, non-conflicted financial advice, strong ethical practices, and a profound duty to service. His deep-seated loyalty to his clients and his passion for outstanding client service was honed over a 31+ year career in the U.S Army Reserves. He served at the Army’s highest levels on the Department of Army staff at The Pentagon and deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm (1991) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2008-2009).

 

Beyond Work

Lee enjoys giving back to the community and to his profession. Lee currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Camp Wesley Woods, is a Council member of the Tennessee Society of CPAs, and a member of the American Institute of CPAs. In addition, he is past President of the Knoxville Chapter of Tennessee Society of CPAs and past President of the East Tennessee chapter of the Financial Planning Association.

Background

Kim is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) practitioner, as well as a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst™ (CDFA®). Kim began her career in the banking industry in 1987, where she stayed for 19 years. While an assistant branch manager with the bank, Kim was given the opportunity to become licensed to sell investment products. She found she enjoyed working with clients to determine the best investments to meet their needs. From there, she became a dedicated Investment Advisor and obtained her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation.

She left the bank in 2006 to join Patriot Investment Management as a fee only advisor, an obvious next step in her career path. At Patriot, she worked with a number of women going through life transitions, leading her to pursue a CDFA® specialty.

In January of 2016, Kim joined The Nalls Sherbakoff Group, LLC. Many of her clients have reached a time in their lives when they’re ready to get serious about being good stewards with their money, and that means gaining control over their resources, organizing all the pieces and simplifying their lives. Kim’s passion is helping clients of The Nalls Sherbakoff Group, LLC, work through that process.

 

Beyond Work

Kim has a heart for community service. She currently serves as an advocate in the juvenile court system through CASA of the Tennessee Heartland. She works with the Homeless Task Force in Blount County and was the coordinator for Neighbors Serving Neighbors with the Blount County Sheriff’s Department. She is a board member with the East Tennessee Financial Planning Association and is past president of that organization. She loves nothing more than spending time with her family which includes 3 sons and a granddaughter.
